The Humanist

There is no meaning
                                  to our current suffering,
                  and no nobility in it.
All those who die,
                       die in vain.
And all those who live,
live in the misery and darkness
                                     of the myths they create,
                                         the conspiracies
                                               of blood and silence,
                                         their inability to doubt
                                             their own faiths,
when doubt is what they need most.

When doubt is what they need most,
                                 they cling in flocks
                                                      to idiotic certainties.
